Zombieland - Best Movie of 2009?
published June 27, 2009

I've only seen the trailer, and even the trailer is better than any movie I've seen this year. Terminator Salvation, while not horrible, had so much more potential. Wolverine was complete crap. We've been fed two movies that quite possibly are the most laziest pieces of film making we've ever seen with the "Land of the Lost," and the putred "Year One." The Hangover was pretty damn funny and Bruno may quite possibly be much funnier. In the end however, I believe Zombieland will beat them all and take the crown for the best movie of the year. Here's the trailer.

I will admit, I love a good zombie movie. The new Dawn of the Dead is one of the best movies of all time in any genre. 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later were both fantastic and intense. Shaun of the Dead was a great zombie movie as well. I'd rather watch the above trailer on repeat for 2 hours than watch the likes of "Paul Blart Mall Cop," or robot porn "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."

Zombieland looks like a healthy mix of the awesomeness of the new Dawn of the Dead, and some of the light hearted aspects of Shaun of the Dead. It also stars Woody Harrelson, who is also a complete badass. It appears that he will be be using shotguns, machine guns, shovels, hedge clippers and many other weapons to destroy zombies. I also cannot think of a better scene to kill zombies than an amusement park. This movie has awesome written all over it.

There will be blood.

Now the year is nearly half over and there are plenty of more movies to be released that have potential to be awesome. District 9 seems to have in interesting premise, and some awesome 'peaceful' aliens. 2012 will probably be fun to watch the Earth burn, but will almost surely have a completely weak plot to go with it. Sherlock Holmes is going to be directed by Guy Ritchie, so it has potential (especially if you don't really know much about the literature). James Cameron's Avatar has a lot of promise because, well, it's James Cameron. I think the biggest competitor will be Ninja Assassin - the potential return to greatness for the Wachowski brothers.

However, this trailer basically has everything I want in a movie, and hopefully the whole movie is just as awesome. But here is my bold preclaimation, "Zombieland" will be the movie of the year in 2009!
